As a sound guy I am very experienced in Film, TV and ENG sound recording and editing. I used to use the industry standard HHB Portadat with Time Code for many years, but now use Edirol R4 & R44 Pro Time Code 4 track solid state and hard drive mixer/recorders with time code.
I have a useful selection of microphones from the venerable Sennhiser 815 t (mono long shot gun mic) through a couple of really nice Audio-Technica Stereo shotgun mics (possible 5.1 recording) to a Sony C-75 with Micron and Shure radios, all combined wth Rycote and Lightwave windshields; VDB, Panamic booms and the usual Beyer cans. (Full kit list here.)
For large scale studio work, location or live work a Alesis HD2496 24 track digital hard disk recorder is paired digitally with a Soundcraft Digital mixing desk with a 32/24/8/2 mix.
I edit sound in Final Cut Pro and use other software programmes, eg, Cubase for individual track editing and preparation.
